We stay at Welterweight for our second bout of the evening as PFL Challenger Series alumni and 2022 PFL Semifinalist Carlos Leal takes on David Zawada. Leal began last season as an alternate before stepping in on short notice and upsetting two-time PFL Welterweight World Champion Ray Cooper III to begin his PFL tenure. Zawada enters this bout following a first round TKO loss last time out as he looks to regain his form.

Round 1

We are underway with our second bout of the evening as the bout begins with a Leal outside calf kick which he doubles up on, causing Zawada to change stances. Zawada rushes in and eats a body shot as Leal fires another heavy low kick and Zawada returns as Zawada switches stances once more, clearly bothered by the calf kick early.

Leal is pressuring heavily as both men exchange heavy shots. Zawada partially lands a high kick and Leal returns fire with a big straight right. Zawada answers with a heavy hook but Leal is still moving forward and pressuring as they reset, and Leal lands a beautiful three-two combination.

Both men are landing hard as Leal lands a big kick to the liver and Zawada answers with a hook combo. Leal lands a MONSTER overhand right and he’s got Zawada hurt now! Zawada retreats and Leal keeps coming, landing a big straight right and a left hook with one more right hand behind it and Zawada folds like a lawn chair up against the SmartCage. That’s a Quick Six for Carlos Leal to start his 2023 Regular Season campaign.
