Denis Goltsov has been a constant presence in the PFL Playoffs, and he finds himself on the doorstep of another appearance — and potentially another No. 1 seed. A two-time semifinalist, Goltsov was slated to be the top seed in the 2022 heavyweight playoffs before visa issues prevented him from competing. A Combat Sambo World Champion, who has won 80 percent of his fights entering tonight with a stoppage, Goltsov scored a first-round knockout of Cezar Ferreira in April.
A kickboxing specialist, Yorgan De Castro fought in Eagle FC in his last two fights — including a win over Junior dos Santos — getting on a three-fight win streak after his tenure in another promotion ended. He made his PFL debut in April, dropping a unanimous decision to Danilo Marques.
A win will lock Gostov a playoff spot, with a first-round finish clinching him the No. 1 heavyweight seed. Meanwhile, De Castro will need a win to stay alive in the playoff race.
Round 1
De Castro tries to come forward, but Goltsov lands a few jabs on him. A few more jabs, while De Castro lands a low kick. Goltsov lands a one-two on the button — emphasized by a right hand — that dropped De Castro out cold in less than 20 seconds! Goltsov is the No. 1 heavyweight seed!
