After three finishes in four fights (feels like a theme is forming here…), we’ve arrived at the contract awarding portion of Week 3 of the PFL Challenger Series! Louie Sutherland, Abraham Bably, Isaiah Pinson, and Danilo Marques all won their bouts and as such will be eligible to receive a PFL contract.
As a little recap for the fans, the Challenger Series contract awarding process works as follows: First, the PFL will choose two of the four winners as finalists for a PFL contract. From there, fans will vote in the Bud Light Fan Vote to make their voices heard and help decide who gets a contract. If the fans and the celebrity panel composed of Vitor Belfort, Kurt Angle, and Frank Mir agree, that fighter is awarded a contract. If the two votes are not congruous, Ray Sefo gets the tie breaking vote.
Now that the housekeeping is out of the way, let’s get down to business! Louie Sutherland and Abraham Bably will be our two finalists tonight! Fitting after making their PFL debuts against each other last August in London and both finishing in big ways tonight in the second and first rounds respectively.
Now it’s down to the Bud Light Fan Vote and the celebrity panel and as we head to a commercial break, the fan vote is locked in a dead 50/50 heat. This is why you have to make your voice heard to get your guy a PFL contract as it feels like every week the fan vote has been razor close.
We now head to Kenny Florian and the celebrity panel to get their vote. After much deliberation, the celebrity panel has selected Abraham Bably! We now head to the fan vote which was decided by a mere 24 votes and the stakes are HIGH! Abraham Bably wins the fan vote and he is your newest PFL heavyweight, congratulations AB!
